Metabolic measurement system

Metabolic measurement systems are used for the evaluation of aerobic capacity. They determine the basic cardiopulmonary parameters during exercise such us maximal O2 consumption, anaerobic threshold, total O2 consumption, maximal cardiac frequency. Evaluation of aerobic capacity is important to athletes because allows proper planning of the training sessions and therefore helps to improve athletic performance.

In the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Center we use the Parvo TrueOne 2400 (ParvoMedics) system. Its main features are:

  • 02 Analyzer p aramagnetic , r ange: 0-100% or 0-25% , a ccuracy: 0.1%

  • CO2 Analyzer i nfrared , r ange: 0-10% , a ccuracy: 0.1% , r esponse < 90 ms

  • Flow/Volume Measurement ( Rudolph screen pneumotach )

  • Standard Measurements : Metabolic equivalents (METS) , Maximal oxygen uptake (V02) , Minute ventilation (VE) , Ventilatory equivalents (VE/V02 VE/VC02) , Respiratory gas exchange ration (RER) , Carbon dioxide production (VC02) , e rgometer work (watts) , t readmill work (speed & elevation)
